Classes
Introspection Class
This weekly class offers participants an opportunity to look inward to
seeing how they formulated the way they are and ways to create a life
that is different. It incorporates the use of meditation, guided imagery,
breathing exercises, drawings, poetry, letters to others, games, or any
other personal form of expression. Participants are given an opportunity
to share their successes and opportunities for growth. They can also share
journal entries if they choose to do so.
This is an open and ongoing class – new participants
can join at any session. We monitor attendance and award certificates
and folders or journals for attendance. Among the works used as guidance
for this class include insights from various 12-step programs and information
from the following sources and authors:

This class is based on the book by the same name, Houses of Healing,
A Prisoners Guide to Inner Power and Freedom by Robin Casarjian.
It is a weekly class based on a belief in the intrinsic potential, dignity,
and worth of each person. The course is designed to promote self-esteem;
to foster emotional and spiritual growth; and to encourage responsibility
and accountability in oneself and toward others. The course draws from
a variety of personal growth modalities. Various aspects of the course
include: practicing meditation, self-regulation and stress-management
techniques; learning cognitive reframing and attitudinal healing; acknowledging,
working with, and healing childhood trauma; transforming anger, resentment
and unhealthy guilt and shame/working with forgiveness; acknowledging
and working with grief, the silenced emotion; nurturing spiritual growth.
